Summary

In accordance with Article 26 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, the Judge Advocate General of the Navy, in coordination with the Staff Judge Advocate to the Commandant and Deputy Commandant, Manpower and Reserve Affairs, may assign individuals who are certified and qualified to perform duties as military trial judges to such billets.

Selection for assignment to judicial billets is critical to the fair and effective administration of military justice.

Judge advocates assigned to judicial billets must possess a suitable background in military justice, sound judgment, an even temperament, unquestioned maturity of character, and exemplary writing skills.
