6011 - Aviation Production Controller

Summary

Aviation Production Controllers (PC) are responsible for planning, directing, and controlling scheduled and unscheduled maintenance functions at the Intermediate Maintenance Activities (IMA) in direct support of tiltrotor, rotary and fixed-wing aircraft, unmanned aerial systems, and transient squadrons.

They supervise the IMA in repairing and requisitioning of aeronautical components, consumables, tools and equipment, cryogenics, ground support equipment, airborne armament equipment, and assist with forecasting and managing the fiscal year logistical expenditures.

They must be able to establish and effectively communicate goals across the Maintenance, Avionics, and Ordnance Departments.

They are responsible with ensuring the maintenance efforts are efficient, while maintaining constant communication across all three departments, Supply and the Organizational Maintenance Activities Maintenance Controllers.

Prepare or supervise the preparation of reports, correspondence, schedules, and rosters pertaining to maintenance and repair.

A high level of expertise is required to supervise the execution of various tasks that are encompassed within a wide spectrum of aviation maintenance and logistical matters.

They must possess a detailed, working knowledge of Naval Aviation Logistics Command Management Information Systems (NALCOMIS), Relational Supply (R-Supply) and all NAMP and processes governed by reference (bs).

Strong written and verbal communication, and computer skills are needed in the performance of their duties.

Prerequisites

Must possess a primary MOS from any of the following OccFlds: 60/61/62: Aircraft Maintenance, 63/64: Avionics, or 65: Ordnance.

Requirements

Must complete all 5000 level task lists in the Production Control I-Level Training and Readiness Syllabus.

Shall be designated for a minimum of 6 months and have attended the following courses in order to be awarded the MOS: Intermediate Maintenance Activity (IMA) Production Control Procedures Course (C-555-0043); or the Intermediate Maintenance Activity (IMA) Power Plants Production Control (PC) Course (C-555-2021).

Duties

Upon meeting all eligibility listed for the certification of this MOS, the individual recipient shall coordinate with their unit administration department to ensure this MOS is added to their official Military personnel file (OMPF) in order to accurately reflect the corresponding aviation qualification/designation within their permanent record.
