6092 - Aircraft Intermediate Level Structures Mechanic

Summary

Aircraft Intermediate Level Structures Mechanics inspect, maintain, and repair aircraft intermediate level structural components.

Prerequisites

Must have normal color perception.

Must possess a CL score of 105 or MM score of 105 or higher.

Requirements

Must complete the following course(s): Aviation Structural Mechanic Core Course (N23WSG2).

Advanced Composite Materials Repair Course (N04WRL1 or N25WRL5).

Duties

For a complete listing of duties and tasks, refer to reference (ad) COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2, (bn) NAVMC 4790.1, and (bo) NAVMC 3500.14: Employ operational risk management principles.

Perform ground maintenance tasks and repairs on aircraft and mission systems components.

Interpret technical manual/correspondence (i.e.

instructions, drawings, diagrams).

Identify and diagnosis aircraft and mission systems malfunctions.

Document all inspections, maintenance, and repairs in a maintenance management database system.

Order parts and materials needed for maintenance/repairs.

Provide training via self-paced readings, labs, and on-the job training to individuals in the performance ground maintenance duties.

Basic computer skills.

Be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite.

Strong written and verbal communications skills are necessary in the performance of duties.

Utilize a multitude of information management systems.

Utilize maintenance training management database systems, to track maintenance training progression and qualifications.

Planning/scheduling/management of personnel and assets to varying degrees which increases with each promotion in rank: Sergeant and below-job/task leader.

SSgt-shift supervisor.

Gunnery Sergeant-work center supervisor / Division Chief.

Implement and manage a training plan for the career progression of Marines and sustainment of required maintenance skills/qualifications and all Marine Corps required training.

For career progression Marines should seek to hold the following billets and obtain the corresponding qualifications: Cpl-Collateral Duty Inspector.

Sgt-Collateral Duty Inspector.

In addition to the above qualifications/billets, the ranks of SSgt and GySgt should hold a minimum qualification of Collateral Duty Inspector.

Additionally, they should seek to hold the following billets/qualifications: Quality Assurance (Quality Assurance Representative), Production Control.
