6242 - Fixed-Wing Aircraft Flight Engineer, KC-130

Summary

Fixed-Wing Aircraft Flight Engineers, KC-130; monitor all aircraft systems and operate the flight engineer’s panel during flight operations.

Assist the pilot/copilot in preflight and post flight inspections of the aircraft, supervise servicing functions and record all discrepancies upon completion of flight.

Prerequisites

Must be designated as, PMOS 6276, Fixed-Wing Aircraft Loadmaster, KC-130.

Security requirement: secret security clearance eligibility.

Requirements

Complete training requirements for the KC-130 Flight Engineer designation, in accordance with the KC-130 Loadmaster Training and Readiness Manual, per reference (bo) NAVMC 3500.14.

Designated as a KC-130 Flight Engineer by the commanding officer, in accordance with the KC-130 Loadmaster Training and Readiness Manual, per reference (bo) NAVMC 3500.14.

Duties

For a complete listing of duties and tasks, refer to reference (ad) COMVANFORINST 4790.2, (bn) NAVMC 4790.1, and (bo) NAVMC 3500.14: Operate aircraft/mission/weapon systems.

Calculate performance data.

Assist in aircraft navigation.

Perform fuel management.

Perform flight checks.

Assist in functional check flights.

Assist in emergency procedures.

Understand maintenance concepts.

Supervise and conduct servicing functions.

Understand theory and operation of aircraft/mission/weapons.

In-flight and ground troubleshooting of aircraft/mission/weapons.

Perform a multitude of ground handling duties in support of flight/maintenance operations (e.g.

marshalling of aircraft, ground refueling, and securing/un-securing of aircraft for flight etc.).

When away from home station: Repair aircraft and related systems.

Document aircraft discrepancies.

Perform aircraft inspections and repairs.

Requisition required parts/items needed for maintenance.

Basic computer skills.

Be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite.

Utilize various information management systems: Advanced skills management (ASM).
