6609 - Aviation Logistics Information Systems Advisor

Summary

Aviation Logistics Information Systems Advisors are assigned to selected headquarters and staffs.

They possess knowledge of how to establish, employ, and sustain Aviation specific information systems in support of Marine Corps and Naval Aviation and are able to communicate clearly with a non-technical audience.

Their role is to integrate and coordinate with the plans sections or operations sections of their respective command as it pertains to Aviation Information Systems.

They must identify and clearly translate communications and Department of Defense Information Network Operations (DODIN Ops) capabilities, limitations, and opportunities in all phases of the planning cycle.

The skill set provides headquarters staffs with officers who, along with MOS 6694 subject matter expertise, ensure that Aviation Information systems are considered in the force deployment planning and execution process, exercise planning, pre-positioning program development execution, and doctrine development.

Prerequisites

Must possess one of the following PMOSs: MOS 6002, Aircraft Maintenance Officer; MOS 6004, Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Officer; MOS 6602, Aviation Supply Officer; MOS 6604, Aviation Supply Operations Officer; or MOS 0602 Communications Officer.

Security requirement: secret security clearance eligibility.

Must have minimum of 6 months of time in a table of organization designated 6609 MOS billet.

Duties

Identify and clearly translate aviation information systems capabilities, limitations, and opportunities in all phases of the planning cycle.

Support the development, review, and update of OPLANS/CONPLANS in support of higher headquarters’ directives.

Develop estimates of supportability and concepts of logistics support.

Support the development and operational orders and letters of instruction for ACE operations and exercises.
