6842 - METOC Analyst Forecaster
Summary
Typical duties of the METOC Analyst Forecaster include observing, collecting, recording, validating, processing, disseminating, and assimilation of METOC data and information to formulate forecasts and environmental assessments.
METOC Analyst Forecasters use and perform preventive maintenance on METOC sensors, information technology systems, and equipment.
Prerequisites
Must be a U.S.
citizen.
Must possess an EL score of 105 or GT score of 105 or higher.
Must have 36 months obligated service remaining upon graduation from the MOS producing school.
Security Requirement: Must meet sensitive compartmented information (SCI) eligibility guidelines based on a single scope background investigation/T5 investigation.
Prior to conducting the lateral move interview, all applicants are required to complete a screening with a special security officer (SSO) to determine TS/SCI eligibility.
Requirements
Complete the Meteorological and Oceanographic Analyst Forecaster Course (ITRO Phase 1) (F02WAK1) at MARDET Keesler AFB, MS.
Complete the Marine Corps Meteorological Oceanographer Analyst Forecaster Course (Phase 2) (F02WAM2) at MARDET Keesler AFB, MS.
Meteorological and Oceanographic Analyst Forecaster (MOAF) Course students will submit a security pre-screening with the Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC) Intelligence Department Special Security Officer (SSO) within 30 days of starting the course.
Marines with favorable screenings and orders to intelligence battalions will submit a single scope background investigation (SSBI)/T5 investigation package prior to graduation.
