7257 - Air Traffic Controller

Summary

Air Traffic Controllers routinely perform various duties and tasks related to the control of air traffic and vehicles within the designated areas aboard an established airport control zone, expeditionary airfield, or remote area landing site.

These duties are performed within control towers, radar facilities, and expeditionary air traffic control equipment.

The Military Airspace Management Course (F0273D1); MAJIC Course (A05L6Z1); Introduction to US Air Force Flight Procedures (F35YLH1); JAOC2C Course (F19L2W2); and other courses listed in the ATC Training and Readiness Manual, are available to 7257’s for skill enhancement training.

Prerequisites

Must be a U.S.

citizen.

Must possess a CL score of 110 or GT score of 110 or higher.

Security requirement: secret security clearance eligibility or temporary SCI.

Must be a Cpl or below and have less than 5 years TIS if desiring LATMOVE into MOS.

This is based on MOS proficiency and qualification timeline requirements.

Must meet the requirements/prerequisites of MOS 7251, and have completed the Air Traffic Control Basic Course (ACA1) (N2367A2) and the Marine air Traffic Control and Landing System (MATCALS) Operators Course (N23E4A2).

Requirements

Once aboard a Marine Corps Air Station or Marine Corps Air Facility prospective 7257s must achieve qualification, per the Air Traffic Control T&R Manual, on a control tower or radar position, ground control, tower flight data, radar final control or radar flight data/coordinator satisfies this qualification requirement.

Once the prospective 7257 achieves the appropriate qualification the Marine’s unit must submit an Electronic Personnel Action Request Form to the supporting IPAC to award the 7257 MOS.

Must meet the following MOS proficiency timelines: Cpl or 12 months after graduation from AC(A1) (N23E4A2) for assignment of PMOS 7257.

Sgt or 3 years after graduation from AC(A1) (N23E4A2) for assignment of NMOSs 7252, 7253, or 7254.
