8036 - Joint Targeting Specialist

Summary

Joint Targeting Specialist serves as the Targeting subject matter expert to the Commander and Staff for all lethal and non-lethal fires and effects in shaping the enemy to meet the Commander’s Intents.These duties include planning, integrating, coordinating, through Targeting Working Groups and Targeting Boards.

This MOS will be assigned only as FMOS.

Authority to issue this additional MOS will remain with the local command delegated to the unit level.

This MOS is held by SNCOs only.

Prerequisites

Security requirement: SCI security clearance eligibility.

Requirements

Must complete the Joint Targeting Staff Course (N46HFS3), Dam Neck, Va.

Duties

Upon completion of the Joint Targeting Staff Course and participating in a unit/staff’s targeting working group and targeting board the individual will meet all eligibility for the certification of this MOS, the individual recipient shall coordinate with their unit administration department to ensure this MOS is added to their official military personnel file (OMPF) in order to accurately reflect the corresponding targeting qualification/designation within their permanent record.

Fire Support Marine, 0861.

Fires and Effects Integrator, 0871.

Joint Terminal Attack Controller, 8002.
