8421 - Production Recruiter

Summary

The Production Recruiter must be thoroughly familiar with the process of joining prior service Marines and officers to the Selected Marine Corps Reserve (SMCR), Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA) program, and Active Reserve (AR) program.

Typical functions of the Production Recruiter include preliminary screening of prospects, scheduling appointments for processing applicants, preparation of join packages, preparation of reenlistment and extension documents and maintaining accurate records.

Production Recruiters typically work in environments external to the normal Marine Corps post, station, and FMF environments.

They are stationed in locations collocated with Inspector-Instructor staffs of various commands.

Once voided, this MOS may not be reassigned without prior approval from the CMC (RAM).

Prerequisites

Security requirement: secret security clearance eligibility.

Complete an initial tour on the active reserve program.

Must be screened and meet the prerequisites prescribed in the current Marine Corps order that pertains to the Special Duty Assignments Manual (SDAMAN).

Complete the Basic Prior Service Recruiter Course (M08M401) at the Recruiter School, San Diego CA.

Duties

Maintains reports required for systematic recruiting.

Canvasses the IRR population for prospective applicants for the selected Reserves and the SMCR population for prospective AR applicants.

Maintains liaison with supported gaining commands within the recruiters local area.

Explains Marine Corps reserve programs to prospective prior service Marines and officers to include opportunities and regulations to respective programs.

Screens interested prospects to determine eligibility relative to physical defects, moral character, criminal involvement, age, drug abuse, satisfactory prior service, citizenship, education, and dependency in accordance with directives governing the Marine Corps Reserve.

Schedules working applicants to be screened by medical personnel and interviewed by prospective gaining commands.

Prepares requests for waivers to join prerequisites.

Prepares reenlistment and extension documents in accordance with headquarters, Marine Corps direction as found in total force retention system (TFRS) approvals.

Advises and assists in preparation of requests for retraining, incentives, AR program accession, reappointment and inter-service transfer.
