1C8X1 Airfield Systems

1C8X2 is an Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) for Airfield Systems. Airfield Systems personnel install, remove, relocate, modify, deploy, and maintain fixed and mobile meteorological, navigation, and air traffic control ground-to-air radio systems. They also: Accomplish flight inspection duties for navigational aids Analyze equipment performance trends The Air Force merged the 1C8X1 Radar and 1C8X2 Airfield Systems career fields to create the 1C8X3 RAWS career field. The merger aligned the specialty closer with the Federal Aviation Administration construct.
