3D0X2 Cyber Systems Operations
The 3D0X2 AFSC, known as Cyber Systems Operations, is a critical role within the Air Force responsible for maintaining, operating, and managing server operating systems and other computer systems along with the software applications pertinent to their operation. They ensure defensive mechanisms are in place to protect against service outages and interruptions to network operations, thus safeguarding the integrity and efficiency of Air Force cyber operations both in garrison and deployed locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Management: Install, support, and maintain server operating systems and computer systems along with the necessary software applications.
- Cyber Defense: Ensure current defensive mechanisms are in place, including server and network security, to protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats.
- Network Operations: Respond to service outages and interruptions, ensuring the continuity of network operations.
- Maintenance and Administration: Administer server-based networked systems, distributed applications, network storage, messaging, and application monitoring.
- Security and Vulnerability Management: Support identification, reconnaissance, and remediation of vulnerabilities to enhance capabilities within cyber environments.
- Project Management and Supervision: Manage systems-related projects and supervise cyber systems operations, ensuring compliance with security policies and directives.
Training and Qualifications:
- Tech School: The initial skills training for 3D0X2 is conducted at Keesler AFB over 66 days, where airmen are trained in Information Systems Technology.
- Education: Completion of high school or GED is mandatory, with additional courses or certifications in computer and information systems technology being desirable.
- Experience: Progression through the AFSC requires experience in system operations, multi-user technical support, system restoral, resource counting, and security.
Specialty Qualifications:
- Knowledge: Must have knowledge of cyber systems elements including capabilities, functions, and technical methods for system operations.
- Security Clearance: This role typically requires work in a networking environment and access to Top Secret material, necessitating a high level of security clearance.
- Certifications: Must attain and maintain a minimum Information Assurance Technical Level II certification.
