6223 aircraft mechanic
The Marine Corps MOS 6223 is a military occupational specialty (MOS) for fixed-wing aircraft power plants mechanics. These mechanics work on the J-52 engine and are responsible for inspecting, testing, maintaining, and repairing the power plant components.
The aircraft maintenance occupational fields include direct and indirect support of the total airframes and power plant package of all aviation aircraft weapons systems. The first two numbers of the MOS designate the primary position of mechanic (60), helicopters (61), and fixed-wing aircraft (62).
Aircraft mechanics use a variety of equipment and weapons to maintain and repair aircraft. They use hand and power tools, such as wrenches, pliers, and drills, to remove and install parts.
