ET Electronics Technician
Electronics Technicians (ETs) in the Navy maintain, calibrate, and align electronic equipment. They work on surface ships and aircraft.
ETs perform maintenance on: Cryptographic systems Radar systems Navigation systems Command, Control, Computer, Communication, and Intelligence (C4I) systems Electronic air detection and tracking equipment Electronic recognition and identification equipment Aids to navigation Mainframe computers Large-screen displays Fire Control Radars LANS Weapon control consoles Automatic gun systems
ETs also: Supervise and manage maintenance Calibrate test equipment Operate and repair equipment
To become an ET, you must: Have a high-school diploma or equivalent Be a U.S. citizen eligible for security clearance
The ET rate was established in 1942 during World War II as Radio Technician (RT).
