92M Mortuary Affairs Specialist
The Army’s military occupational specialty (MOS) 92M is a Mortuary Affairs Specialist.
They are responsible for: Recovering and identifying soldiers killed in action Disinterring remains from temporary graves Preparing, preserving, and shipping remains Inventorying, safeguarding, and evacuating personal effects Searching areas for unburied dead, unmarked graves, personal effects, and identification Establishing and recording tentative identification Escorting and temporary burial
92Ms receive training on topics such as finger printing, dental charting, and physical characteristics. They also draw upon specialized medical training and respect and compassion to handle the remains.
92Ms serve as the Mortuary Affairs Sergeant at the Theatre Mortuary Affairs Evacuation Point. They support Operations New Dawn and Enduring Freedom.
