The 3F5X1 Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) involves providing administrative support to Air Force, Department of Defense (DoD), and joint organizations. This support encompasses various tasks such as office management, human resources, executive staff support, postal operations, and official mail services.

For Entry Into This Specialty:

  • ASVAB: Administrative: 55.
  • Strength: 70 lbs.
  • Completion of a high school diploma or general educational development equivalency.
  • Desirable courses in business, English composition, computer software, and keyboarding.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Office Management: Manages organizational communications, including correspondence preparation, distribution, suspense tracking, and workflow management. Additionally, performs administrative functions such as calendar management, meeting support, and customer service duties.
  • Human Resources: Manages personnel and manpower programs, including personnel rosters, evaluations, decorations, orders, and in-/out-processing. Ensures accuracy of information in personnel and manpower database systems.
  • Executive Support: Provides executive administrative support to General Officers and Senior Executive Service civilians, including travel arrangements, itinerary coordination, and preparation of trip folders. Assists in planning and conducting official functions.
  • Overseas Postal Operations: Performs postal financial services, supply/receipt/dispatch functions, mail delivery services, and postal security. Prepares forms/reports, operations plans, and maintains postal records.
  • Official Mail: Prepares and receives incoming/outgoing mail, checks manifests, operates Official Mail Center, and distributes organizational mail.

Specialty Qualifications:

  • Knowledge: Mandatory knowledge of office management policies, technologies, and procedures; administrative support for personnel and manpower programs; executive support processes and responsibilities; postal and mail policies and procedures.

Training and Experience:

  • Completion of the Administration initial skills course is mandatory.
  • Experience progression through different levels involving performing administrative functions, supervision, and management of administrative functions is required for progression through different skill levels in this AFSC.
