12R Interior Electrician
The Army MOS 12R is an Interior Electrician. These soldiers have a comprehensive understanding of electricity and work with up to 600 volts of electrical power. They install and maintain interior electrical systems and equipment.
Their duties include: Installing and wiring transformers, junction boxes, and circuit breakers Reading blueprints, wire plans, and repair orders to determine wiring layouts or repair needs Installing service panels, switches, and electrical boxes Supervising or performing installation and maintenance of interior electrical systems and equipment
Army electricians are safety conscious and understand local rules and regulations. They work on many jobs, including lighting hospitals, running power tools, and operating computers.
To become an Army electrician, you complete seven weeks of in-class and technical instruction on electrical systems. After training, you can work under advanced electricians on an army base.
