BU Builder

The Navy MOS BU stands for Builder. Builders are responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of wooden, concrete, and masonry structures.

They also perform tasks such as: Carpentry Installing interior and exterior finishes Painting and preservation Building and placing forms Mixing, placing, and finishing concrete Operating and maintaining carpentry and cabinet making shops

Builders make up the largest segment of the Naval Construction Force. They work as carpenters, plasterers, roofers, concrete finishers, masons, painters, bricklayers, and cabinet makers.

The Builder class “A” school is approximately 14 weeks long and is located in Gulfport, Mississippi. The enlistment program is 5 years long.

To become an Enlisted Sailor and an Equipment Operator, you need a high-school diploma or equivalent. Those seeking a position with the Seabees must be U.S. citizens.
