The 2A3X3 Tactical Aircraft Maintenance specialists are responsible for the maintenance and operational readiness of the Air Force’s tactical aircraft and support equipment. Duties and Responsibilities:
2A3X3 technicians are responsible for:
- Servicing aircraft and performing various inspections including end-of-runway, postflight, preflight, thru-flight, special inspections, and phase inspections.
- Troubleshooting and maintaining aircraft engines, hydraulic systems, and other related systems.
- Removing and installing aircraft and engine components and conducting functional tests.
- Supervising and performing aircraft jacking, lifting, and towing operations.
- Inspecting aircraft structures, engines, systems, and components to ensure compliance with standards.
- Managing and documenting maintenance actions and aircraft equipment inventories.
- Supervising launch and recovery activities and coordinating maintenance plans to meet operational commitments.
Specialty Qualifications:
Knowledge:
- Essential knowledge includes aircraft systems, flight theory, hydraulic and electrical principles, maintenance directives, technical data usage, and hazardous waste handling.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent with courses in physics, pneumatics, and electronics is desirable.
Training:
- Completion of a suffix-specific basic aircraft maintenance course for initial AFSC award.
- Advanced training and craftsman course completion are required for higher skill levels.
Experience:
- Experience in repairing, maintaining, installing, inspecting, and overhauling aircraft structures, systems, and components is necessary for progression through the AFSC.
