8G000 USAF Honor Guard
8G000 is the special duty identifier for the United States Air Force (USAF) Honor Guard. The Honor Guard’s primary mission is to represent Airmen to the American public and the world. They do this by: Rendering military honors to Air Force personnel and their families during funeral services at Arlington National Cemetery Promoting the Air Force mission by showcasing drill performances at public and military venues The Honor Guard’s other responsibilities include: Representing the U.S. Performing drill movements with a fully-functional M-1 rifle in intricate, constantly changing formations The Honor Guard is a voluntary special duty with no additional pay. However, the USAF Honor Guard provides all uniforms and items necessary for this assignment. These items can be exchanged or cared for through the supply unit at no personal expense. The Honor Guard’s height requirements are: Minimum height requirement for males is 5’ 10” and 5’ 6” for females Maximum height is 6'6” for all members The Honor Guard cannot be called for deployment due to a specific code on their records.
