648X Explosive Ordnance Disposal LDO
The MOS for Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) LDO in the United States Navy is 648X.
EOD technicians are responsible for: Locating, identifying, and rendering safe all types of ordnance, including improvised, chemical, biological, and nuclear Detonatng and demolishing hazardous munitions, pyrotechnics, and outdated explosives Neutralizing various ordnances such as sea mines, torpedoes, or depth charges
EOD technicians perform these duties on land and underwater. They may be sent on missions across the world.
EOD technicians are qualified by graduating from NAVSCOLEOD at Eglin AFB, FL. The course covers tools and techniques to mitigate both conventional and unconventional explosive hazards.
LDO is a path for people who have a degree and want to move into a Technical Officer role in the military.
