A Limited Duty Officer (LDO) in the Information Professional (IP) community are technical leaders in the following areas: Information systems Communications Network operations Satellite communications systems Knowledge management Defensive cyber operations/cyber security Command and control Space systems
LDOs are experts and leaders in the Navy enlisted rating or Marine Corps enlisted MOS from which they came. They are considered more the officer and less the technician as compared to the chief warrant officer (CWO).
To be an Information Professional Officer, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in a technical field. Preferred fields include: Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Operations, Computer Science, Systems.
