Duties and Responsibilities:
2A5X4 technicians are responsible for:
- Conducting sortie generation, ground handling, and servicing operations.
- Performing various aircraft inspections, including preflight, thru-flight, postflight, and phase or isochronal inspections.
- Diagnosing and solving maintenance problems using technical data.
- Maintaining aircraft structures, engines, hydraulic systems, and other related components.
- Supervising aircraft jacking, lifting, and towing operations.
- Managing inspection and maintenance records and coordinating maintenance plans to meet operational needs.
- Supervising and assisting in aircraft launch and recovery operations.

Knowledge: Essential knowledge includes principles applying to aircraft systems, flight theory, hydraulic and electrical theories, and maintenance directive application.
Education: Completion of high school is mandatory, with related vocational courses highly desirable.
Training: Completion of a suffix-specific basic aircraft maintenance course for initial AFSC award, followed by a craftsman aircraft maintenance course for advanced qualifications.
Experience: Progression through the AFSC requires qualification in lower-level AFSCs, along with practical experience in aircraft maintenance tasks.
