0341 mortarmen

Mortarmen assume responsibility for the strategic utilization of both the 60mm light mortar and the 81mm medium mortar. Their primary role involves delivering indirect fire support to bolster the efforts of rifle and Light Armored Reconnaissance (LAR) squads, platoons, and companies within infantry and LAR battalions. These skilled individuals are typically stationed within the weapons platoons of rifle and LAR companies and the weapons company of the infantry battalion. Noncommissioned officers are designated as mortar gunners.

Their key functions encompass:

  1. Establishing a mortar section/platoon (Deployment).
  2. Employing a 60mm mortar section to enhance company operations (Deployment).
  3. Employing an 81mm mortar section/platoon to bolster battalion operations (Deployment).
  4. Executing standard mortar missions as a section/platoon (Firing).
  5. Executing specialized mortar missions as a section/platoon (Firing).

Additionally, they are tasked with:

  1. Setting up an assault squad (Deployment).
